This morning I decided to go to the companies that have had layoffs career pages to see if they had open roles (for research purposes of course □) and to my surprise majority of the companies still had roles open.Įither they are bad at taking roles down OR they don't see value in their TA/HR professionals. Please choose the kind and ethical route if you are in a position to hire. If you are a hiring manager, please kindly know candidates have been put through the ringer these past few months and some of them are struggling to pay their bills, need health insurance, families to support, and just overall burnt out from the bs. ![]() Just because someone was laid off or is currently searching for a new job does not mean that they are worth less and should be compensated fairly and equally just as everyone else. Candidates should be given time to respond to their offer, ask questions, and offers shouldn't be sent over the weekend, that shows you don't have healthy work life balance. It doesn't take 8 interviews to decide if a candidate is a good fit for the job, you usually can decide that with a max of two interviews. The starting salary range was 90k and because they were laid off, they were told 70k would be best and final in this market. ![]() One friend went through 5 rounds of interviews, only to get the offer on the weekend, but because they didn't respond within 1 day, got their offer rescinded. One friend interviewed at 4 companies and each one required 6-8 rounds of interviews and then told them they felt they needed more time to decide. My friends have been interviewing either from being laid off or simply trying to escape toxic work cultures, but it seems companies aren't cutting them a break either. ![]() Seeing how companies choose to treat candidates who have been laid off or simply looking for a new job during this time is atrocious. ![]()
